Abstract

he article presents the results of the research on how the state approach is being transformed while dealing the issue of transport accessibility of the remote Far Eastern Federal District, large-scale in territory and unique in economic and geographical aspects. The author analyses major state policy steps to develop rail, water, aviation, and road cargo and passenger transportation, both domestic and interregional, including Siberia, central, and southern parts of the country. The author describes the growing problems in providing Far Eastern population with necessary transport means as well as in developing the transport, especially airport, infrastructure. He connects the adequate transport accessibility and welldeveloped transport infrastructure with improving life quality, both in small settlements and cities in the Far East. As concluded, these aspects are also critical in reference to the Russian government’s 2021 resolution on subsidizing the Far Easterners’ air transportation on socially significant routes and solving technical and economic problems under the current external challenges.
